As I blogged about here, our own Fearless Leader, Kevin Lofgren, had been nominated to be one of the 2008 "21 Leaders for the 21st Century" as selected by the Collin County Business Press. Well, after the votes and/or bribes were tallied, Kevin was indeed named as one of the 21 honored individuals. On March 26, 2009, the CCBP held a ceremony honoring not only this year's winners, but all previous honorees, as well. Past recipients of this award include:

• 15 mayors
• 33 city council members
• 5 Collin College trustees and 3 presidents from other colleges and universities
• 12 school board members and 7 superintendents of school districts
• 1 sheriff, 1 judge, 1 justice of the peace, 3 state representatives, 1 state senator, 4 commissioners' court members
• 7 city managers, 4 chamber executives, 9 EDC directors
• 49 CEOs

As you can see, a lot of elected officials have made the grade over the years. Kevin, in case you're unaware, has never served in elected office and, he claims, has no desire to do so. Ever. I believe him, too. For now.
