Current Energy: 2008 Holiday In-Store Signage

November 24, 2008

Client:
Current Energy provides energy-efficiency solutions to both residential and commercial customers designed to maximize energy cost savings while minimizing capital investment. Current Energy has a consumer-facing retail presence with two Current Energy Stores – one located in the fashionable Knox-Henderson shopping district of Dallas, Texas, and the other in Dallas's upscale Northpark Center mall.

Situation:
With the holiday season approaching, Current Energy needed a way for their stores to turn the heads – and feet – of passersby.

Objectives:
To communicate that Current Energy is the place to go for green gifts, and get people to postpone their visit to Cinnabon and stop in for a bit of shopping.

Strategies & Tactics:
Our goal was to maintain the consistent look and feel we had established for the rest of Current Energy's holiday campaign, which you can see here, here, here and here. Additionally, the client had chosen to use drape-like vertical banners in the windows to carry the message. The banners would serve as both an advertisement to passersby, and as a backdrop for a rotating assortment of products displayed in the window. And just to make things interesting, the banners were two-sided.

In the end, the only real challenge was the client's request to list a number of featured products as a bullet list of items. We were concerned that doing so would interfere with the classiness of the design. So we thought up the idea to incorporate those products in the background of the drapes – making them subtle reminders of the products, without shoving them down the viewers' throats or interfering with the main message.

Results:
We like them. The client likes them. We're happy. They're happy. Any questions? See below for visual examples.
