When in Doubt, Whip Out a Cracker

I can't tell you how proud I am today. I'm proud of a lot of people, and here's the reason why:
If you've clicked through the site very far, you've probably read about Mindbender Academy and seen our work for it. And if you haven't, you can click those links to do so (ain't the internet nifty?).
I was just honored to receive the D/FW Metroplex Technology Business Council's Tech Titans Community Hero Award on behalf of the Frisco ISD, the Frisco Education Foundation, the Frisco Chamber of Commerce, Leadership Frisco Class XI and Farstar. Raytheon, Sanyo, Cisco, Janimation and other supporters deserve no small amount of credit, too. Told you it was a lot of people.
I was sincerely surprised to receive this honor – so much so that I didn't see a need to write any notes for an acceptance speech. While sitting at dinner during the ceremony, I realized that I had better jot down some notes on something just in case. There was no paper, and the napkins were linen. So I improvised with a felt-tip pen and a flat cracker. Perhaps a saltine. It was winging it in its highest – or is that lowest? – form.
From the MTBC Website:
The Metroplex Technology Business Council (MTBC) is a non-profit organization. Membership in the MTBC consists of technology members (80 percent of membership) and provider members (20 percent of membership). The MTBC is dedicated to fostering a supportive business environment for technology companies and members of the technology community through leadership, advocacy, education and cooperative initiatives. The MTBC was founded in 1994 by MCI, Nortel Networks, Fujitsu and Rockwell International.
The 2008 MTBC Tech Titans winners were announced at the 8th Annual Tech Titans Awards Gala on Friday, September 26 at the Marriott Dallas Plano at Legacy Town Center. This flagship event attracted over 700 business and community leaders from DFW’s high-tech industry and featured 10 prestigious awards for accomplishments in the field of high technology, research and education.
The Community Hero Award recognizes an individual within the technology industry for outstanding achievements in community involvement.
Congratulations to all involved with the 2008 Mindbender Academy. Everyone was truly a part of the team, and I'm honored to accept such prestigious recognition on behalf of us all.
