Current Energy: Summer 2008 Window Clings

August 27, 2008

Client:
Current Energy provides energy-efficiency solutions to both residential and commercial customers designed to maximize energy cost savings while minimizing capital investment. Current Energy has a consumer-facing retail presence with two Current Energy Stores – one located in the fashionable Knox-Henderson shopping district of Dallas, Texas, and the other in Dallas's upscale Northpark Center mall.

Situation:
Summer in Texas means three things: the Rangers are already mathematically eliminated from playoff contention, it feels like we're living in God's own broiler, and thousands of people need new A/C systems. Current Energy was uniquely qualified to help that last set of people (sorry, Rangers fans).

Objectives:
To prompt passersby to detour into Current Energy's Knox location during the hot summer months when Texans, shielded by big hair and bigger hats, are nonetheless out shopping in droves. More specifically, we wanted them to stop in and learn about Current Energy's lineup of ultra-high efficiency air conditioning systems from Trane.

Strategies & Tactics:
Since we were targeting people who were walking along the sidewalk in front of the store – and perhaps even driving along the street – we decided that being bold was best. We were given a rather large piece of real estate on the front of the store to play with, and play we did. Some of our ideas were completely off-the-wall (and will hopefully be produced in 2009). But for the sake of the production schedule and budget, we decided to keep things simple.

So, to tout the Trane XL19i and it's superior 19.5 SEER efficiency rating (chances are, your A/C has a SEER rating of 9 or 10), we produced a series of three full-frame window clings. Featuring a twist on a common phrase, the banners used colors from Current Energy's new brand palette to draw the eye while reinforcing the brand.

Results:
Below are the art files, followed by a photo of the clings on the store windows. Whenever the client says they're happy, we're happy. And guess what? We're happy.
