Current Energy: Q4 2007 Billboards
November 23, 2007
Client:
Current Energy provides energy-efficiency solutions to both residential
and commercial customers designed to maximize energy cost savings while
minimizing capital investment. Current Energy has a consumer-facing
retail presence with two Current Energy Stores – one located in the
fashionable Knox-Henderson shopping district of Dallas, Texas, and the
other in Dallas's upscale Northpark Center mall.
Situation:
When we first started working with Current Energy, they were using us for Lead Machines and other web-based services. Any brand advertising was handled by their agency of record, another local shop that shall remain named The Richards Group. However, after seeing the success of our work combined with its comparatively low cost, Current Energy wondered if we could handle a bit of general advertising work – in the form of a billboard campaign – as well. Well, we were sure willing to give it a shot.
Objectives:
For the client: Continue branding themselves as DFW's go-to provider of energy efficiency solutions.
For us: Prove that our creative marketing prowess didn't begin and end online.
Strategies & Tactics:
Our basic strategy was to do what the other guys hadn't, which was, frankly, produce interesting work. So, taking the "energy efficiency solutions provider" message as our starting point, we explored literally dozens of headlines and several different layout styles, with the client ultimately picking their favorite.
[Update: Since this project, we have completely revamped Current Energy's brand identity. So, as much as we like what you see here, it's the only time this graphic treatment was used.]
Results:
Well, Current Energy now has do all of their advertising work. So that should tell you something.
